Best wishes,

Finished...

Finished a couple of weeks ago, but forgot to post here!

The first one I made came out too big, but fit my cousin (will have to post that sometime), so I got some Katia Denim from Elann in the Cypress colorway (which I LOVE!).

Ended up making the smallest given size. Fit pretty well after finishing, but I did have to tack the back straps down so it wouldn't gap underneath them. However, and good thing I wore a tank bra underneath, it GREW during the day, so it's still a little too big. Darn stretchy ribbon. Le sigh.

But, it's ok...I like how it looks with the tank underneath, so it's all good.

Finally finished - ll back

I forgot to post here that I finally finished my tank that I started months and months ago. Pictures of it are here. It is not being modeled by the owner. I knit it for a friend as a surprise, but it was clear that it needed to be an ll-back in order for it to be something she'd wear often, since it can be hard to find a good strapless or convertable bra for larger chested women. I am so glad I finally just finished. I had had it all done except the straps for weeks and weeks. I'm hoping to make a true x-back for myself sometime over this coming winter, to have for next summer.

Which yarn...

Ribbon Xback knit-along

Okay, I want to get started! I have two yarns swatched for this - the recommended Katia Ola, in light blue, which I happened to have in my stash, and Takhi Capri, a knit cotton tape in aqua. I got the gauge on both with no trouble. My worry is that the Ola will be too see-through when finished. Has anyone had problems with this? I will be making the smallest size, and am hoping it won't be too big.

Something a little different

I've finished my X-Back!
Click Here for my original blog post that links thru to my blog entry with full details and photos.

Why different? I used a ribbon yarn - but it's sport weight rather than "bulky" weight - as such, some serious math was involved, along with some small amounts of cursing and a near cannibalization of this project so I could use the yarn for something else. The good news is I decided to keep on knitting and I now have a lovely X Back as a result :D

Flippin' heck...

(yes, I do really talk like that...I'm not censoring myself for blogland!)

Sort of finished my xback a couple weeks ago, however am out of my normal element (on the opposite side of the country with my family and preparing for sister's wedding!) and seem to have forgotten all about this website! I need to pick-up along the bottom to make it longer (my belly does not need to be seen!) and sew in my ends. Other than that she's fini! Really cool. Love it. Photos soon. Even if I don't finish it soon!

Oh, think I cast on for medium, went down to small for waist shaping and stayed there for rest of garment. Weird because I am NOT a small. Anyway...used Ola in awesome light-green shade and LOVE, love, loved knitting it! Sister wants one now...but must wait until I return to my stash.

aw hell...

Seeing the picture below has confirmed my fears. I was really hoping it wasn't very noticeable, until I looked at the pic I posted. To the frog pond I go.

UPDATE: Tried it on before frogging....waaayyy too big. Woo Hoo! I don't feel so bad now.

progress

Here is a picture of my xback so far. Who knows if it will fit. I'mon my 3rd ball. The dyelots are the same, but one ball was way different than the others. Still, I don't think it is too noticeable.

Here she is- at last!

So I finished my x-back. And who ended up getting it? ME! It was way too big for my sister-in-law (see my blog) and too short for my sisters taste. So I took pity on it, and it now belongs to me!
